I run a range of knitting and crochet workshops aimed at both beginners and the more experienced crafter. With over 20 years teaching experience over a range of textile and design courses from adult education to masters level, my teaching style is relaxed, informative and fun.

I’ll be there with samples of my designs, patterns for sale and to tell you all about the classes I’ll be running in the shop this Summer, and into the Autumn.

Come and learn to crochet at this Beginners Crochet Class where you will learn all of the basics and get started on a gorgeous crochet granny square.

This workshop is taught by Sue, (that’s me) designer at The Mercerie, and it is suitable for absolute beginners and anyone wanting to refresh their crochet skills.

I am a qualified teacher with over 20 years experience teaching learners of all ages and abilities and I also have lots of patience and will make sure you gain a good working knowledge of basic crochet stitches.

You will learn how to hold the yarn and the hook in a way that suits you, how to work double crochets, half trebles and trebles, and you will also learn how to read a simple crochet diagram; demystifying all those funny little marks and squiggles. You will leave inspired and with the confidence to continue developing your skills at home.

The price includes lovely British aran wool and a 5mm crochet hook.

Places are limited to 8 and my classes are informal, informative and fun!

If you have done the Beginners Crochet Class, or if you already know the basics and are ready for the next step Crochet Beyond the Granny Square is the class for you.

This workshop is taught by Sue, (that’s me) designer at The Mercerie, and it is suitable for anyone with  very basic knowledge, or if you simply want to refresh your crochet skills.

I am a qualified teacher with over 20 years experience teaching learners of all ages and abilities and I also have lots of patience and will make sure you develop a good working knowledge of a range of crochet stitches.

You will learn how to create decorative stitches such as clusters and popcorns and then apply these to beautiful  crochet squares and flowers.

We will look more closely at crochet symbols, and how to read them, and by the end of the class you will be more confident in your ability to read and follow crochet diagrams, and have the skills to create gorgeous squares and motifs.

£25. Including all  materials

This is the first in a series of four ‘crochet along’ workshops to make your own unique version of the beautiful Trellis Poncho which I’m  launching this summer.Throughout this four part course you will cover a wide range of stitches and techniques which you will be able to apply to future projects with confidence and skill – and you will also have you own fabulous finished product to treasure.

Techniques covered will include:

  • Basic crochet stitches.
  • Working in the round.
  • Crochet flowers.
  • Joining motifs as you work.
  • Working a pop pom trim.
  • Blocking and finishing

You will choose your own colours from a range of gorgeous Rowan Felted Tweed  from Norfolk Yarn, so you know that the finished product will be utterly gorgeous!

The course will be taught by Sue, (that’s me) designer at The Mercerie, and it is suitable for anyone with good basic crochet skills. I am a qualified teacher with over 20 years experience teaching learners of all ages and abilities and I also have lots of patience and will make sure you develop all the skills you need to complete this beautiful poncho.

Each class will be tailored to individual abilities and will be informal, informative and lots of fun.

You don’t need to be an experienced crocheter; knowing the basics would be an advantage, but you will learn ‘on the job’ and quickly build up your skills.

If you have existing crochet skills but wuld like to brush up abit before doing this course you might like to attend my Crochet Beyond the Granny Square class.

If you have no experience of crochet but would love to learn why not try my Beginners Crochet Class?

This two part Crochet Course is perfect for anyone looking to move on from the basics, read a pattern and learn how to make a cute little Crochet Beret. It is taught by Sue, (that’s me) designer at The Mercerie, and it is suitable for anyone with good basic crochet skills.

I am a qualified teacher with over 20 years experience teaching learners of all ages and abilities and I also have lots of patience and will make sure you gain a good understanding of the shaping formula and the techniques you will need for this project.
