I’m delighted – and very excited to be piloting this course online in Autumn 2020
If you’d like to be one of the first to know when this launches please contact me directly via email; [email protected] and I’ll add you to my ‘Homage’ list.
With a respectful nod towards the modernist painter Joseph Albers, who spent a lifetime exploring colour interactions, this crochet course will kick start your new relationship with colour and inspire you to be bold and playful with your crochet.
It’s an inspirational series of crochet workshops delivered via a combination of written instructions, video tutorials and live Q&A sessions. It’s designed to develop your crochet skills and build your colour confidence and you’re guaranteed to have a uniquely beautiful product at the end of the course.
We’ll be working with Rowan Felted Tweed in 10 beautiful colours to create stunning crochet blankets through an exploration of stitch, colour harmony and composition. I have nearly 30 years experience teaching textiles and design and will guide you through every stage ensuring your blanket is exquisitely designed, and uniquely yours, with attention to detail and a professional finish.
We’ll explore different crochet squares each month, and these will get successively more complex throughout the course allowing you to build on your skills and learn new techniques as you work on your own unique and beautiful crochet blanket.
Throughout the course we’ll cover a wide range of stitches and techniques which you will be able to apply to future projects confidently and inquisitively.
Topics covered will include:
Basic colour theory and choosing your own unique colour palette
Understanding the relationships between colours and tones.
Reading, and demystifying, crochet stitch diagrams
Working a range of different crochet stitches
How to join squares to achieve a professional finish.
Blocking and edging
The blanket it worked using 20 balls of Rowan Felted Tweed, you choose your own colours (with my guidance if you’d like it) so you know that your finished blanket will be utterly gorgeous and one of a kind.
The finished blanket will measure approximately 100 x 130cms.
You don’t need to be very experienced at crochet but you do need to be able to do the basics (know how to hold the hook and yarn), but you’ll also be learning ‘on the job’ and will quickly build up your skills.
If you need a little more persuasion this blog post might help–
I’m currently fine-tuning the details of this course but as soon as I’m ready to launch I’ll update this page, so you might like to nip back in a couple of weeks – or get in touch and I’ll mail you when I’m set to go.
