Is your crochet missing that elusive Wow Factor?

Do you lose interest after that initial buzz of starting a new CROCHET project?

Would you like to be better acquainted  with your creative, intuitive soul?

Are you bored of your favourite ‘go to’ colours?

If you can answer yes to any of the above questions – Homage to the (Granny) Square is the perfect course for you.

You probably already know that I’ve been fiddling with the idea of running my courses online for some time now. But finally the stars are in perfect alignment so I’m thrilled to be kick starting my online crochet courses this Autumn with this hugely popular crochet course.

“This is the most glorious course….I urge anyone to sign up who would like to explore colour, crochet and joy with a truly fabulous person…..you won’t regret it.” Kathy

This course has been running in a number of lovely local yarn shops in the UK since April 2018 and I’m delighted to be able to offer it to you now as a six month programme of remote learning on the subscription platform Patreon.

Check out this video if you’re new to Patreon

“Patreon exists to provide a stable, reliable source of income for creators, and that’s especially important in this time of global uncertainty.  Artists change lives by providing the much-needed work that uplifts us, inspires us, and gives us hope…. Art is needed now more than ever, and making sure creators are fairly compensated for the art they make is vital” Maura Church: Head of Data Science at Patreon

Homage to the (Granny) Square is aimed at anyone who can do some crochet basics (that means you can hold the hook, the yarn and maybe work a couple of stitches) everything else you need to know will be learnt ‘on the job’ as you work your way through 142 glorious crochet squares.

Over 6 months you’ll create a uniquely beautiful crochet blanket whilst learning new skills and developing your crochet and colour confidence. Regular tutorials in the form of detailed PDF’s and video tutorials will guide you through every stage of this project from choosing your colours, working a wide range of crochet stitches and tips on how to achieve a professional finish.

£20 per month, over 6 months, will grant you access to all the tutorial materials, plus live group Q&A sessions, and you can choose to unsubscribe at the end of any month if you decide not to complete the course. There’s no big, upfront, fee, no cancellation fee and no awkward ‘up-selling’ or advertising. (other than yarn and retailer recommendations by me)

The course will launch on Tuesday 1st September 2020 and run until Sunday February 28th 2021.
Enrolment can take place any time between 1st and 30th September.  Entry will be closed at the end of September.

Homage to the (Granny) Square: Online Course includes *An initial series of colour theory activities and exercises  designed to help you with you colour choices and ensuring jaw dropping results.

*Progressive learning from simple granny squares to more complex designs and covering a range of stitch structures.

*Detailed patterns including clear stitch diagrams and written instructions (using British Termino    logy) for 10 beautiful crochet squares.

“If you’re thinking of joining Sue for the Online Homage…..go for it! Sue has been a wonderfully supportive, encouraging, inspiring, kind, positive, thoughtful and more tutor. She’s also a colour diva! Do I need to say more….” Jane

When can I enrol/subscribe?

I just want to crochet; do I have to do the colour exercises?

The colour workshops form the foundation for everything that happens next and I believe that to get the very best out of this experience an understanding of colour and colour theory is essential. Of course you don’t have to do anything, but it is included as part of the course.

WHAT YARN WILL BE USING AND HOW MUCH will i need?

This project was designed specifically for Rowan Felted Tweed and you’ll need 20x 50gm balls in complete the project. 10 different colours in total.

CAN I USE A DIFFERENT YARN?

Of course you can work with whatever yarn you like but I won’t be able to advise you on alternatives. The thing that generally attracts people to this project is the quality of the colours and a different yarn will produce a very different looking blanket.

WHERE CAN I BUY MY FELTED TWEED?

There are Rowan stockist in many countries: here’s a store locator and downloadable list of suppliers. Also, once the course is live I can help you find UK based retailers that will ship abroad.

Will your instructions include left-handed information, American terminology and be written in different languages?

My patterns will only be available in English, using UK crochet terminology. If there’s enough demand I may be able to provide left handed diagrams. That’s something I’ll decide on once we get started.

WHY CAN’T I ENROL EARLY TO SECURE MY PLACE?

The way Patreon works is as a subscription platform with payments made monthly on the 1st of the month. So if you join before 1st September (which you can’t because it’s not live yet!) you’ll be billed for the whole month of August before the course starts

If you join anytime during September you’ll be billed for that month on the day you join, and you’ll immediately have access to all the information uploaded that month.

Does that all make sense…???

WHAT OTHER MATERIALS OR EQUIPMENT WILL I NEED?

I’ll upload a full list of requirements when the course goes live, and I’ll also send this out a few days in advance to anyone on the VIP list.

You’ll need some paints, a couple of brushes, paper, scissor and glue, in addition to the crochet stuff. But I always try to keep expenses down and you don’t need to invest in expensive art materials. Poster paints will be just fine.

I DON’T LIVE IN THE UK- CAN I STILL DO THE COURSE?

Yes! 🙂

I hope that’s enough information for you for now. And I really hope that you’ll be joining me on the journey (yes I do enjoy hackneyed metaphors and cliches!)

If you haven’t already joined my VIP list do get in touch and I make sure you’re kept in the loop!
